Accomplishments
Throughout more than a century of service, Welsch Heating and Cooling Company has received numerous awards and recognitions for service excellence, civic responsibility and overall performance as a business leader in the St. Louis area. Below are some of our more notable accomplishments.
National Residential Contractor of the Year:
We are the only company in the United States to have received all three available National Residential Contractor of the Year Awards.
Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) – 2016
Butch Welsch and Denise Webb were present for the presentation of this award at the 2016 Air Conditioning Contractors of America Annual Convention in March of 2016.
Contracting Business Magazine – 1992
We received this at an annual Contractor Program entitled “Focus on the Future” in September 1992, in Indianapolis Indiana.
Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors of America (SMACNA) – 1992
We received this award at SMACNA’s Annual National Convention and we were the first Residential Contractor so honored.
Family Business of the Year Awards:
We are fortunate to have been chosen to receive two Family Business of the Year Awards.
St. Louis Business Journal Family Business Award – 2017
We were proud to have been selected from a group of over 50 entries. As a fourth generation company started in 1895 we were the oldest company so honored.
Family Business of the Year Award – 1995
As part of their Business School’s program, Southern Illinois University -Edwardsville honored companies in the St. Louis area who had successfully operated through more than one generation of family ownership. We were the oldest company to be so honored.
Better Business Bureau – St. Louis Area
BBB World Class Customer Satisfaction Award (Now known as the Torch Award) - 1988
We were the first heating and air conditioning company to receive this prestigious award at what has now become a very large annual awards presentation.
Local Municipality Awards – City of Maryland Heights
Maryland Heights Small Business of the Year Award – 2017
Maryland Heights, the community in which our company is located has many small businesses and to have been chosen for the award was a special honor.
Maryland Heights Heating and Air Conditioning Contractor of the Year – 2015
Despite its size, Maryland Heights is the home to a number of heating and air conditioning contractors and it was very special to have been chosen for this award.
Special Individual Awards:
Company President, George “Butch” Welsch, has been fortunate enough to have received several personal awards. However, since all of Butch’s life and work efforts have been devoted to Welsch Heating and Cooling Co. he considers these awards to be as much awards to the company as to him personally.
Legends of the Industry Award – 2017
Butch was one of two contractors to receive this first ever Legend of the Industry Award. The award was established and presented by the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News weekly newspaper to honor Lifetime Achievement in the heating and air conditioning industry. This would be considered the Industry’s Hall of Fame.
Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors (SMACNA) National Legislative Contractor of the Year Award – 2006
This annual award acknowledges efforts in SMACNA’s ongoing efforts to aid Contractors in the Legislative area.
St. Louis Construction Cooperative Management Person of the Year – 2004
Butch received this Al Fleischer Management Award, an annual award presented by the St. Louis Construction Cooperative (formerly PRIDE of St. Louis). The St. Louis Constructive Cooperative is a joint Labor/Management Organization which is the voice of Union Construction in the St. Louis area. The award was presented to acknowledge Butch’s many years of negotiating and working with the Sheet Metal Industry’s Labor Partners, SMART (formerly SMWIA) Local #36.
Home Builders Association of Greater St. Louis Excellence in Achievement Award – 1994
This “Hall of Fame” of the St. Louis Home Building Industry was started in 1994.
Butch was the first (and only) Associate Member to be included in the initial class of six award winners of this Excellence in Achievement Award.
Other Awards:
The company has received numerous other awards and acknowledgements of its ongoing efforts to improve the heating and air conditioning industry in the St. Louis area.
